GANDOLFO Lavanda Rametti
GANDOLFO Lavanda Rametti
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a plant of the Lamiaceae family. It is an evergreen and perennial shrub of small size (60-100cm) with straight trunks, woody at the bottom with slightly curved lateral branches. It has straight and pointed leaves in a green-gray color. The flowers, quite fragrant, are grouped in thin blue-purple spikes. Coming from the Mediterranean scrub, lavender is a resilient plant in both hot and harsh winter temperatures. It is found in dry and stony soils and forms particularly beautiful shrubs.
The common name "lavender" is derived from the Latin gerund "lavare" (must be washed) and indicates that this variety was used in ancient times (specifically in the Middle Ages) to cleanse the body.
